Creamy Whipped Coffee

Take your barista skills to the next level in the comfort of your home!

Quarantine day what? I can’t keep track of the days since self-isolation began, but one thing I do know for sure is drinking the same cup of coffee each day can get boring, so here’s a fun and tasty recipe to work on your inner barista. Whipped coffee is one of the latest social media trends, also known as Dalgona coffee.. Or as I grew up making it = Greek frappe. Whatever you want to call it, you gotta try it! Enjoy one in the morning or as a mid-day pick me up, keep reading for the full recipe.

I personally like to mix my caffeine game up all the time (quarantine or not), sometimes I wake up and make myself an iced matcha latte, other days I prepare a big pitcher of organic cold brew coffee or make an oat milk latte using my Nespresso machine. If I want to spoil myself, I’ll order a “Chagaccino” from my favourite local coffee shop! With all my recipe research and first-hand experimenting I thought I had seen it all, that was until I heard about whipped coffee.. A real game changer. The way I would describe it: creamy, strong and delicious — almost like a dessert in a cup.

  • 1 tbsp instant coffee I use Nescafe Classic

  • 1 tbsp organic golden cane sugar

  • 1 tbsp filtered hot water

  • 1 cup unsweetened nut milk (I use oat or coconut)

  1. Add equal parts instant coffee, sugar and hot water into a deep bowl or frothing cup

  2. Whisk ingredients together using a frother or hand-mixer for about 3-4 minutes, or until smooth and fluffy (be careful this part can get messy and splash sometimes)

  3. Pour your choice of steamed nut milk in a cup and spoon coffee mixture over top. If you prefer your coffee iced, fill a glass with ice, pour nut milk over, top with whipped coffee and enjoy!

Ps. this drink is strong so if you are sensitive to caffeine I would suggest cutting the recipe in half!
